Book Woes---

For the first time in a VERY long time, I am having a hard time connecting with a book and getting drawn it. I very rarely quit a book, but in the span of the past week I have quit not one, but TWO!

The first:

I have read two by this author in the past and really enjoyed them but this one....not so much. The subject matter of mourning a dead child is for sure going to make for a dark, deep and heavy book, but this one was just plain boring to me. The characters were forced and the writing style was too scattered for my liking.

Sooo....I picked up and promptly put down, this one:

A Woman's Judgement by Fanny Frewen. A book so obscure and unknown that I couldn't even find a picture of it online! Set in England, a empty-nester mom gets training to become a magistrate while her dysfunctional kids continue to be dysfunctional (at least in the part that I made my way through--page 28.) I just didn't care about the characters.

But I do now have a new one to try:

Ahhh... my reading soul must have been restless, knowing this book by a most beloved author had been released but had not yet made it to my home. No worries though....it is here, calling my name, and waiting for me to go curl up with it! :)

As a side note, I think I need to go look at my book list for the fall reading challenge and maybe tweak it a bit. I think my choices are a bit dark.......

I'm having trouble getting into my non-fiction choices. And putting down sequels. I've bunny trailed a couple of times too. gasp! Not me!

I hate when I don't just love books. It really makes for a struggle. I know you're going to love Home to Holly Springs - enjoy :) I just can't decide how long to hold on to it and savor it before I finally give in and read it!

Have a great day!
