Merry Christmas: Part 1 (a little late!)

Merry Christmas to my friends. I have read a few of your blogs and it looks like everyone had a warm and blessed day on the 25th! We had a wonderful Christmas--3 different times!

This was the first year my Sarah wasn't with us on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. The time has come for us to share her with her husband's family, out of town. She was a bit teary about this prospect off and on during the month, so I resolved to make this an ok thing--even though my heart was breaking a little bit too. Soooo...the Saturday before Christmas we had a celebration with Sarah and Jesse at our house. Bless my oldest son's heart--he drove home from college after his work shift, arrived at our house at 4:00, turned around and drove back to Bellingham (college) at 10:00 arriving back to his apartment by midnight so he could get back to work at 8:00 that next morning-all so we could all be together. Then he drove back home Sunday night, this time to stay here until Thursday--(which is today).

Our celebration that night consisted of our usual traditional Christmas Eve meal: Clam Chowder, biscuits and warm home-made applesauce. We then opened gifts and proceeded to make candy houses (which I pre-made out of graham crackers and glue guns at 1:00 a.m. the morning before). A great time was had by all and pictures follow:

The mess afterwards!

A free centerpiece I got from someone at work--it was perfect for our Candy House night!
Having this fun evening together made Christmas Eve and Christmas Day much easier. I will post about our other celebrations sometime tomorrow. For now I am off to make a couple of pillowcases for my bed.

Better late than never on commenting here. . . this is such a cool idea. Em loves gingerbread houses and this year Dan helped her make one from a kit. I don't know who had more fun!
