Isn't it amazing that we can experience all those emotions at the same time?
I have been asking myself these past few days, "How can this be? Wasn't I just feeding him a bottle and rocking him to sleep?"
But oh, what an opportunity for my child, who is ready to take the world by the tale. I am excited to see how his experiences this next year will continue to mold him into the man God wants him to be.

I have thought about you ALL week and will continue to think about you and say prayers for you and your family. What an amazing opportunity for your son; what loving parents to allow him to take advantage of that opportunity!
When I told my mom I'd applied for a job in Singapore, she got mad and wouldn't talk to me. When I told her I accepted the job, you can imagine her dismay. When I actually went (for 2 years), she planned parties for my friends so that we could all communicate on MSN messenger (this was pre-Skype). She also planned a trip to visit me and visit other countries in the area. It was tough for her at first, but she realized what an amazing opportunity it was for me and she is so glad I went now. I learned so much about myself and the world that I wouldn't know yet had I stayed home...

Our thoughts will be with all of you. It's a parents job to let their children "spread their wings", but I'm sure a little closer to home would have been preferred. An amazing opportunity though.
Kim, how exciting for your son! Thank you for sharing his blog with us. I know it must be so bittersweet for you, but I'm sure once he's over there and you get to "share" in his experience, it will be better. You must be so proud of the young man he has become.
