We did it! We finished Banner in the Sky, our read aloud. It has taken us awhile as we haven't read every night, but we stuck with it and completed it. It is a great adventure story for boys and although I think sometimes the geologic formation descriptions got lost on Sam, there was enough drama to keep him enthralled. Now we will start a new one--but maybe not until after our trip. I think our next one will be Little Britches.


Although I have heard this one can be a bit of a tear jerker, I think nothing can beat trying to read Where the Red Fern Grows out loud!!! After that soggy eyed experience we declared a moratorium on "dead dog stories"!!!
