what a wonderful day

Question: Did you have a good day today, Kim?

Answer: Why yes, I did!

What did I do? I attended an all day workshop on stuttering with my boy, Sam. It was a great day...not only for me, but for Sam. He has never really known any other kids who stutter, so it was very empowering for him to be around other kids like him. Some of the kids he was with are quite severe stutterers while Sam's disorder right now is mild to moderate. That was ok though--everyone who stutters is different--there is no cookie cutter mold. It has also helped that his new speech therapist is an adult stutterer.

How great is God's timing in that back in December when Sam's stuttering reared its head again, my work place was in the process of hiring another new speech therapist. AND, that therapist, Elaine, is a specialist in stuttering?? Sadly, there are many therapists who do not feel equipped to treat kids who stutter, so this turn of events is amazing to me.

It was a very informative day-my brain is going to explode, and it was a very affirming day for Sam.

If you need a great stuttering website, here is one to pass along:

Sounds like a perfect day to me. I'm glad Sam enjoyed it and got so much out of it. Thanks for your comment! It's nice to be missed. I don't know where the time goes -- and that's when I should be writing, to keep track and be able to look back and say that's what had me so busy!
