The unspeakabe has happened...

..and I think I am going to be sick. Gasoline prices in my town hit $4.00 a gallon and above yesterday. Has it happened in your neck of the woods yet? The really sad thing is that we don't have the option of public transportation, living in the suburbs like we do. Seattle (and surrounding areas) has been trying to put a rapid transit system in place for over a decade, but can't seem to get its act together. Now we are a day late and a dollar short. We have families, at work, not making it to their child's therapy session because they can't afford the gas to get there. We won't even talk about the ones who can't come because their cruddy insurance won't cover it and they have no other options.....

Well, I better get off my soapbox and get something done around this house, because gracious!, I can't afford to go driving around doing anything fun!

Ugh, gas is so high! And we both, pathetically, drive gas-guzzling SUV's and pickup trucks. We live in suburbia too, and can't walk anywhere or take any kind of transit. We have to go by car everywhere. It's not quite 4.00 here yet, but when we went out to eat last night (date night!), it was 3.86 at most places we saw. I keep hoping it will slow down, but it goes up more every day.

We aren't going anywhere for the holiday weekend. Instead, we're staying home and working on projects around here, like cleaning out the garage. Oh joy. But cheaper!

Have a wonderful weekend :)

We don't have the option of public transportation either...I live in a small town in a rural area; we have to drive everywhere to get anywhere! Once in a while I'll walk to the library but now that the temps will be 90 and beyond, that will be few and far between. I think our gas was around 3.70ish last time I looked but that was a few days ago. And I drive a big suv too! Ugh.
We're going to see the Indiana Jones movie this weekend & the closest theater is 30 miles one way; other than church that's probably all we're doing.

We are floating around the $3.80 mark. It affects almost every decision we make. I am going to have to be much more practical with my shopping & planning.

I'll get on the soapbox too.

It's sickening. Really. I filled up today and it cost $106.00! UGH. I drive about 45 minutes to get to one of Izzy's therapists and have thought about making it every other week rather than weekly. I know the gas prices will affect our Summer plans. Less going. More time home. We live in a suburb too. Really a suburb of a suburb :). Absolutely NO public transportation. I've been looking at hybrid suv's, and am weighing a $50,000 vehicle thinking I could buy a lot of gas with that much money... but maybe not.
