Oh my! I blinked and now look.....

GOING....

GOING....

GONE.....

The traditional first-drive-without-parents to Dairy Queen trip! I am not sure who is happiest. The little brother who idolizes his big brother or the 16 year old about to experience a freedom, the likes of which he has never experienced!!

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. I would like my heart to stop pounding. I would like my boys to stop growing up so fast.

Joy commented on my last post and asked how I was doing with a 16 year old? I am doing great....so very proud of him and the young man he is becoming.

Last Sunday, Kerry and I snuck upstairs where the youth meet for Sunday School to spy on him. Why were we spying? He and his best friend were leading worship with their guitars. Austen has been leading worship 1 or 2 times a month for about 7 month, but this was the first time he and Michael had led together. All Kerry had to say was, "They are looking so grown up", and my tears began to flow! I could hardly stop before I would reach the sobbing stage. So, yeah, I am doing great! :)

Two more years with him. Two very short, quickly passing years before he leaves us to attend college. What will we do without him? Better yet, what will his little shadow, Sam, do without him? Sam, our unplanned little caboose, will be home for 4 years alone, before he leaves the nest. Sam, my social-can't-be-in-a-room alone kid, alone with no siblings?! I can't even imagine what that will be like for him.

OH GOOD!! They are home! Gotta run and get the low down and a hug!

( And hey, because I let him take my car tonight, he is right this very minute doing the dinner dishes for me! This is sweet and could really work for me!)

Happy birthday to your son! Hope y'all had a good birthday celebration....16 is a big one!
Tried to comment yesterday but blogger just would NOT let me, argh.

It's fun when they first start driving, they can be very helpful with errands and all. But a trip to DQ sounds like fun!
