This is a little cloisonne box which I inherited from my Grandmother Ailene. All during my childhood I remember this little box sitting on the table beside the chair she always sat in to work on knitting, tatting or her latest needlework project. It would hold needles, pins, bits of thread and thimbles. One of my greatest sorrows is the fact that she was never able to teach me to tat.

I'm trying to remember if my grandma had a "cloisonne" box. I'm sure she did and someone in the family must have it. I haven't heard that word in a very long time.
Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year

My grandmother also had beautiful things to hold her needlework "tools". She and my mother taught me all the needlearts..and alas, tatting is the only one I've forgotten. It's true..if you don't do it often or for years, you forget how. :(, It's a beautiful treasure you have and wonderful memories. Happy Blue Monday, have a lovely day.
just blog browsing, have a great day
Lovely box that seems to glow with memories!
How nice to have something beautiful to remember you grandma. Happy Blue Monday!
Hi!
Beautiful Box!! Wonderful memory for you! I have always wanted to learn to Tat, but never have. Can't find anyone that does that around here. Have a great New Year!

Hi Kim, I'm visiting from Smiling Sally's. I've really enjoyed spending some time reading your blog and getting to know you just a bit. Your box is lovely, and the memory that goes with it is priceless!
Kim,
That is such a lovely box. I love cloisonne, but that one is exra special because of the memories. My sister learned to tat, but I can barely sew. She got all of the needlework genes. She loves to crochet and do crewel embroidery, too. :-)
XO,
Sheila

What a wonderful treasure you have as a keepsake from your Grandma. I know what you mean about wishing you had her teach you tatting...there are many things I wish I'd had my Grandma teach me ...now it is too late.
Happy New Year!
What a great little box. How sweet that it holds such precious memories for you
Hi Kim, I agree that the extra laundry is well worth it as an exchange for having everybody home at once! I love having a full house, especially at Christmas!
Oh I wished that my Gramma would have taught me to tat, too. (I feel like tweedy bird...LOL) You know what I mean....That is a cute little keepsake! Happy Belated Blue Monday! ~ Robyn
